Music Show #125 – 11/16/18 – Old Songs and New Beginnings
These are some old songs that inspired me to learn how to play guitar, which then enabled me to write my own.
Song #1 “Freight Train”– (Elizabeth Cotton)
Song #2 “My God How the Money Rolls In” – (Traditional) Many different lyrics to the melody “My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean.”
Song #3 “Michael, Row the Boat Ashore” – (Traditional) Pete Seeger’s version.
Song #4 “I’m Only Doing What Keeps Me Doing” – (Dave Puls) A happy upbeat song that encourages us all to seek out the things that lift us higher. If we do what keeps us doing our chances of finding some peace are greatly enhanced. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyneCRvrAoE&index=17&list=PL5294AD25E7CB1953&t=6s
Song #5 “I Wish I Was Single Again” – (Traditional) Harlan Howard version.
Song #6 “Oh! Susanna” – (Stephen Foster)
Song #7 “Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen” – (African American spiritual)
Song #8 “It Takes a Worried Man” – (Traditional) (Woody Guthrie)
